Everything you need to know about the REP!
1. What is REP?
EPR stands for "Extended Producer Responsibility". It is the "polluter pays" principle. This means that the producer or the person placing the product on the market is responsible for the entire life cycle of the products up to waste management. They must therefore take charge of the collection and then recycling of the products.
2. Eco-participation:
The eco-participation, also called eco-contribution, is the amount that Brikoneo collects from buyers to then transfer to eco-organizations. The amount is included directly in the purchase price and differs depending on the type of waste.
3. REP sectors:
There are different REP streams including:
- The DIY and Gardening (ABJ) sectors have existed since January 1, 2022.
- The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) sector has existed since 2006.
- The Thermal DIY and Gardening articles (ABJ TH) sectors have also existed since 2022.
4. Eco-organizations:
Brikoneo has decided to commit to:
- Citeo for the packaging part
- Eco-furniture for the ABJ section (DIY and Gardening Products)
- Ecosystem for the WEEE part (electrical and electronic equipment)
5. IDU numbers:
As part of eco-participation, IDU numbers have been allocated by the various organizations with which Brikoneo has decided to engage.
- Citeo: FR340206_01LIUO
- Eco-furniture: FR340206_14WCTN
